• A long-lasting initiative

Since the Y20 and Y8 first summits in Paris, there has been a long way.

  • Since 2011

During the 2011 French G20 and G8 Presidency, the Open Diplomacy Institute initiated the G8 and G20 Youth Engagement Groups under the Honorable Patronage of President Sarkozy. The first G8 and G20 Youth Summits were held in Paris, May 2011 at the back of the G8 Deauville Summit. Gathering around 140 delegates from all around the world, they issued the first youth report delivered to the G20 & G8 Heads of State and Government. Since 2011, as Y20 for the G20, the Y7 was established as the official channel of communication between young people and G7 leaders.
